Becoming a Provider

Employee Assistance Panel

New Avenues Employee Assistance Panel (EAP) consists of psychologists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, counselors with master's degrees, and addiction specialists who are skilled in short term, solution focused interventions to help people resolve personal, family, and work related adjustment issues within a brief model*. This counseling approach is not considered just "short." We recognize that it requires a high level of skills to facilitate enrollees' ability to quickly identify goals and strengths to address their issues, and facilitate interventions to assist people in meeting their objectives effectively. Most of the counseling occurs within 3-8 EAP sessions depending on the specific contract of the member's employer. Professionals experienced in family therapy, cognitive behavioral modalities, EMDR at a Level II, or specialties of addiction, child and adolescent interventions are also highly in demand.

The Midwest Behavioral Health Network (MBHN) is a full continuum of care network that includes, psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, therapists, child and adolescent specialists, facilities offering inpatient, partial, IOP, and addiction programs. The MBHN also credentials advanced nurse practitioners with specialization in psychiatric nursing for emergency assessment, and outpatient medication management under supervision of a psychiatrist*. The MBHN is a preferred provider organization used by a range of health plans including health maintenance plans, point of service plans, and New Avenues when offering gatekeeping services to EAP client companies. It is highly desirable for providers to participate on both the EAP and MBHN panel to ensure continuity of care.

*Both networks require state licensure for participation.
